Welcome Message

As the initial experience in our new, innovative biology curriculum, we have designed this course to explore scientific endeavors and methods that will provide a foundation for understanding biology by utilizing the scientific process.  We will be using a combination of classroom and laboratory experiences in order to achieve outcomes that will develop and perpetuate the skills necessary for success in the remaining biology core courses.  Students will be expected to learn (not simply memorize) important concepts and ideas in science so they will be able to think critically about current scientific discoveries.  The information presented will be based on current and historical topics taken from Scientific American Online.  The primary goal is to use the combination of lectures, discussions and labs and provide students with a comprehensive overview of the process of science.
