Course Description: This course is designed to give students an in-depth understanding of the vertebrate nervous system.  Through a combination of labs and lectures, students will gain an appreciation for the manner in which the nervous system regulates all bodily functions.  Students will also develop an appreciation for the complexity of the nervous system and the organization required for the proper balance between sensory input and motor responses.  Throughout the five week summer session, students will consider neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurotransmitter biochemistry, development of the nervous system and the interaction of the nervous system with the other systems of the body, as well as biopsychological impacts of nervous system function.
