There are a couple times in LibGuides when you have to WAIT just a moment.

    • One is when you're bringing up an Edit Window for a Content Box. Be patient.
    • Also, when you change to a different tab/page, you have to wait until everything on the page is loaded before you click to Edit or Add something.

    Getting Started

** There is a platform upgrade coming this semester; procedures with be updated accordingly**

The first step in creating a new Guide is actually conception. You need to decide what information you want to provide and how you want to

    1. Create New Guide. You may want to watch this brief videofirst.
      • Start fresh or choose an existing Guide to use as a template (there is a Course Guide Template).
      • Choices for choosing a template
        • My Guides (use one of your guides)
        • Guides at My Institution (Course Guide Template)
        • Community(need permission)
    2. Associate your guide with the Course & Topic: Faculty group.
    3. Give your guide a"friendly" url
    4. Clicking on Guide Settings  \ Change Guide Information (yellow command bar).
      • You can add a friendly url, associate with a subject, add tags and eventually you can publish your guide.
    5. To switch between 2- and 3-columns, put your mouse over Add/Edit Pages at the top of the page and select "Resize Columns."
    6. Add content. You can add a box in the main section or in columns.
      • Add content by clicking Add new Box.
      • Select the type of content you want to put in the box and give it a title.
      • Then you can add/edit text to put your content in. Make sure you choose the appropriate box type (see the Enhancing tab for more info on boxes) for the content you are adding.
      • To change the name of a box click on the "edit" link on the top right of the box. PLEASE don't change the COLOR of the box headers we are trying to keep a uniform look to the guides.
      • IMPORTANT NOTE: when using links make sure you use a Simple Web Links or List & Links box. Links used in a text box will not track; reports are created tracking invalid links and hits to those links.

The students will get to this guide by going to the Drury Guide Homepage and searching by Group, Subject Author

Students can also sign up for email alerts to your Course Guides. See the red Email Alert Share button at the top. You can then send an email alert to everyone.

This is the place to learn how to create guides and course pages. Thanks goes to Butler University's Scott Pfitzinger for creating the original guide and allowing me to use his libguide as a template.
