Reserves
Reserves: Hard Copy & Electronic (ERes)
Olin Library maintains Faculty Reserves as a service to faculty and students. The Reserve collection is cataloged and maintained at the Circulation Desk.
Hard Copy: Unless otherwise designated, reserve material is maintained by instructor name, course, title and author. Instructors may place items on Reserve by bringing the material to Circulation personnel and completing a short form available at the Circulation Desk. Materials are normally withdrawn from Reserve at the end of each semester unless otherwise designated. Students may obtain Reserve materials with their ID. Most materials are Library Use Only.
ERes: Instructors may also place materials on electronic reserve, or ERes. They may set up an electronic course page themselves or ask the Public Services Director, Craig Smith, to set one up for them. Materials that may be included on a course page can be text files, audio files, images, links to website pages on the Internet, Adobe Acrobat files, or Powerpoint presentations. Students may gain access to a course page with a password provided by the instructor.

Dear Sweet Librarian:
Why are alumni not allowed to check out DVD’s and video’s? I am an alumnus who happens to be auditing the History of Film class with Instructor Kevin Henderson. He consistantly advises to check out materials from the library, when I attempted to do so last evening I was informed I could not do so. I would appreciate some clarification about this policy. Thank you for you attention.
Sincerely,
Cynde White

Cynde: Alumni have limited privileges compared to currently enrolled students, or when compared to employed staff and faculty, for the reason that neither the library nor the university’s billing office has any procedures or means to bill an alumnus and be reimbursed for non-returned library items. Our dvd/video collection is very small and mainly used for instruction purposes and therefore has always been excluded from alumni checkout privileges. If you would like to checkout a dvd or a video to view in the library, please contact me (873-7487) or Craig Smith, head of Public Services at 873-7339. Phyllis Holzenberg, Interim Library Director.
