Snack & Drink Policy

To maintain an environment conducive to the research and study needs of all of its users, and to preserve library collections, technology, and furnishings; the F.W. Olin Library has established this policy to ensure a clean, safe environment for studying and working.
Please be considerate of others and enjoy “library-friendly” drinks and snacks:

  • Drinks in spill-proof containers with secure lids
…Travel mugs with lids and personal water/drink bottles are great options
…Please remember that open containers spill fast!
  • Finger-foods such as chips, cookies, fruit, veggies
…Please limit snacking to “dry” foods
…Please avoid foods that are sticky or greasy or messy or strong-smelling
…Please wipe up spills, smears, and crumbs; throw away wrappers and trash.
  • You will find paper towels in all library bathrooms and in convenient locations on each floor
  • Domed waste bins for food refuse are located on the 1st and 2nd floors of the library

Designated Food-Free Zones:

  • Lower level computer lab (room #020)
  • Computer and multi-media workstations throughout the library
  • Chalk Room #205

Delivery of food to the library is generally not allowed, exceptions may be made for library- or university-sponsored events.
