Giving to the Library

The Olin Library is pleased to receive gifts of print and non-print materials that fit collection guidelines, with the final determination of suitability resting with the director.  The library does not accept textbooks, outdated material, items in poor condition, or materials already in the collection.  Gifts are tax deductible, but the library cannot legally provide appraisals of gift items.  Upon request, the library will provide a gift letter that can be used for tax purposes.

The library accepts gifts of materials on condition that it may sell or discard those items that cannot be added to the collection.  If requested, the library will return to a donor any materials that it has not added to the collection.  Money received from the sale of donated books is retained by the library to supplement general collection needs.

Monetary gifts are particularly valuable to the library,  especially when unrestricted.  However, the library is glad to accept funds dedicated to specific purchases designated by the donor.  Monetary gifts may be for one time purchases or as an endowment.  Endowments may be set up for the purchase of books, other library needs, or subscriptions to journals or electronic resources that are of little value unless continuously maintained.

Donated books or those purchased with donated money include a nameplate dedicated to the donor.  Endowed funds are named after the donor.

To donate materials or money to the library, contact Phyllis Holzenberg, Acting Director at 417-873-7487 or contact Myrna Berry at mberry@drury.edu.
