The F.W. Olin Library is central to the pursuit of knowledge by the Drury community. Olin Library advances Drury University’s mission by:

F. W. Olin Library Goals & Objectives for 2011-12
1. Reinvigorate liaison relationships with departments to engage faculty and students
- Define library liaison program
- Examine how the library can support changes related to curriculum revision and work on the Strategic Imperatives
- Work with departmental faculty to incorporate library resources into course assignments
- Communicate benefits of library liaison program to departmental faculty
- Speak to new faculty about library liaison program
2. Implement library’s information literacy program
- Define and plan librarian presence in every section of Alpha Seminar
- Coordinate IL program objectives with the provision of reference services
- Coordinate in-house training for new resources
- Develop means to measure success for IL learning outcomes and teaching performance
3. Collaborate with others on campus to shape and improve a technological infrastructure adequate to support the information delivery programs of the library
- Improve communication with Technology Services
- Partner with Technology Services to solve networked printing problems (log calls)
- Advocate for computer upgrades for library faculty and staff (including reference desk and circulation desk computers)
4. Engage CGCS to improve the level of services offered
- Survey CGCS site administrators, faculty, and student needs
- Determine what services are feasible for CGCS
5. Evaluate journal and database collections
- Determine whether our database mix supports curriculum
- Review journal subscriptions for possible cancellations
- Replace print journals with electronic where practical
- Plan for journal collection space constraints
- Ensure that all collection changes are reflected in Millennium and on the Website
6. Maintain an effective Web presence that supports the teaching, learning, and research goals of the university
- Create or discovery online tutorials for software and databases
- Monitor technology landscape to identify library applications and trends
- Solicit Website feedback from faculty and students
7. Enhance public relations
- Hire student worker to lead marketing efforts (Marketing Coordinator)
- Sponsor special events related to literature, reading, information literacy, and the book arts
- Connect library to current campus events through displays, Website calendar, and Website announcements
- Communicate library policies to university personnel across campus
8. Revise budget allocation process and develop more precise budget tracking methods
- Collect input from library faculty and staff, re: planned expenses for year
- Benchmarks for monographs expenditures
- Adjust budget based on new fund lines
- Working with fund managers, develop a method to track each fund line
9. Assess public service staffing model
- Review procedures for reference referrals, revise as necessary
- Create policy and procedures related to software support for students
10. Review plans for library response to natural disasters and other emergencies
- Assign emergency procedures responsibilities (staff and students)
- Confirm location and condition of emergency kits
- Establish responsibilities for after-hours disaster response
- Campus Security (Serene Deeds) review of procedures
- Work with Serene Deeds to connect building fire alarm with outside world
